Theresa D’Emdem
General Secretary

Theresa D’Emden is an experienced career coach, business mentor, and trainer who has assisted lots of new and established business owners write and execute their business plans to build successful businesses. Her speciality is supporting and empowering multicultural start-ups to gain clarity around their business idea, confidence in their marketing strategy and the capability to use digital tools. Theresa founded Elevate Business Culture and has been recognised in her community for her strong work ethic and business excellence.

As an entrepreneur with experience in different industries, through her passion for community, Theresa is one of the co-founders of the African Language Academy Australia (ALAA), whose MISSION is to teach and coach the next generation to achieve their personal best in speaking their mother tongue, in the process affirming their identity and contributing to a better world.

In 2017, The Organisation of Zambians Living in Western Australia (OZALIWA) recognised Theresa with Business Excellence Award. In 2020 she won the Women in Leadership Award from the Organisation of African Communities in Western Australia (OACWA).

She served as Secretary for OZALIWA in the 2021/2022 executive committee. During her time, she exercised good governance by carrying out duties with reasonable care and diligence, in good faith and in the organisation’s best interest. In this role, she used her leadership skills to contribute to developing the organisation’s mission and values and helped promote and raise the profile of OZALIWA. With this experience, Theresa is confident and believes that she will excel in her current position as General Secretary for OACWA.

Theresa is pursuing her Master of Business Administration (MBA). She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resource management, TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Certificate IV in Career Development and Certificate IV in Employment Services.
