As the umbrella body representing African communities in Western Australia, the OACWA is uniquely positioned to lead the establishment of a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable African Community Centre. This Centre will serve as a home that celebrates culture, empowers families, supports youth, and connects generations.
To effectively establish the WA African Community Centre, OACWA will adopt a structured, multi-phase development strategy that aligns with the long-term vision while ensuring financial and operational sustainability. Our Phased Development Approach include:
Land Acquisition
Initial Infrastructure (Medium Hall + Office)
Expanded Community Hall
Sporting and Recreation Complex
Provide space for local teams, African sports leagues, and wellness activities and where young generation can call “home” and use for various sporting needs to strengthen the community at all levels.
OACWA’s success has outgrown its current home at the OACWA Hub in Nollamara, which now welcomes over 200 visitors weekly. The facility is:
Too small and consistently overbooked
Unable to meet the demand for bookings
Unsuitable for large events, celebrations, and community programs
The African Centre will not only meet current needs but also inspire future generations by providing a strong foundation for cultural pride, social cohesion, and collective empowerment.
