Jambo Africa 2026 Celebrates Global Partnerships and Local Impact
Perth, Western Australia, 25–26 April 2026
The Organisation of African Communities in Western Australia has successfully delivered Africa
Week – Jambo Africa 2026 at Burswood Park, further cementing its position as Western Australia’s
premier celebration of African culture, community, and enterprise.
Held under the theme “Global Partnership, Local Impact: Redefining Africa’s Image and Potential,”
the two-day festival brought together government leaders, community representatives, and key
stakeholders. The event highlighted the growing contribution of African communities and underscored
the importance of strong cross-sector collaboration in driving inclusion and shared prosperity.
In a message to attendees, the Premier of Western Australia, Roger Cook, emphasised the vital role
multicultural events play in fostering connection, inclusion, and economic opportunity. The Minister
for International Development, Small Business and Multicultural Affairs, Hon Dr Anne Aly, noted
that Jambo Africa continues to reshape perceptions while showcasing the leadership and impact of
African Australians.
Executive President Dr Casty Nyaga Hughes highlighted the festival’s significance in promoting
cultural pride, economic opportunity, and community empowerment. Representing the Western
Australian Government, Hon Ayor Makur Chuot MLC reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to
diversity and acknowledged the support provided through the Office of Multicultural Interests and
Lotterywest. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Basil Zempilas MLA, also recognised the event’s role
in strengthening community unity and shared values.
The festival featured vibrant cultural performances, authentic cuisine, exhibitions, and family-friendly
activities, culminating in a headline performance by internationally acclaimed artist Rudeboy.
Jambo Africa 2026 marks a significant milestone in advancing a positive and forward-looking image
of Africa and its diaspora, while strengthening partnerships that deliver lasting community impact.
