Western Australian Multicultural Awards 2023: Premier’s Community Response and Recovery Award — The Organisation of African Communities in WA

The Western Australian Multicultural Awards 2023 have recognised ten individuals and five organisations for their outstanding contributions to multiculturalism and culturally and linguistically diverse communities throughout the State. The Awards were presented at a Gala Ceremony to launch Harmony Week 2023.

OACWA is delighted to have received the Premier's Community Response and Recovery Award.
During the COVID pandemic, the organisation worked across government, non-government, and community sectors to deliver pandemic relief services and a culturally appropriate vaccination awareness program for Western Australians of African backgrounds.

More than 70,000 people were reached through that work. Thank you, Joe Tuazama, for leading the OACWA team to such great accomplishments. Congratulations to the other awards recipients with a special to our very own winners, Mararo Wangai (Arts Award), Lueth Dengdit (Youth Award), and Sunday Aryang (Sportsperson of the year award). To read the full list of winners and more about their outstanding achievements, go to www.omi.wa.gov.au.
