This Award recognises outstanding individuals in sport, media, and entertainment with a strong dedication and commitment to their pursuits. The Award recognises those individuals who have displayed success and talent in their field of choice. This includes entertainers who are musicians, performers, choreographers, and poets; all forms of sport including athletics, coaches and team members who have displayed not only the athletic ability but a strong sense of character.

Michael Wantee

Nyat Mulugeta

Michael is self-funded and continues to do his best in the world of sports and youth mentoring. As the recipient of the 2014 Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award, Michael applies his natural leadership style both on and off the field.

His team, have gone on to win the PAN Cup 2019 and this has supported Michael to mentor and coach young people engaged with sport and facing personal challenges.

As a youth leader for the Grace life church, Michael continues to explore ways to make a difference to young people.

Slim Poba

Slim has a 25-year career in the music industry working as a DJ and ambassador for culture in WA. His passion for African music has resulted in African music featuring in nightclubs and on some Perth radio stations.

He is an active supporter of the Chipolopolo Football club of WA, a member of the Australia Zambia Business Council and volunteers for Hope Zambia and Upahu Foundation, an organisation of which he is a founding member.

In 2017, Slim was the recipient of the OZALIWA Art Award for his contributions to the Zambian community.

Kelvin Githui

Kelvin uses entertainment as a platform for youth to experience and explore their talents, unifying African communities through music and creating opportunities or Employment.

His six-year career in industry has seen him run events, mentor and train upcoming DJs, contribute to his local soccer team and being the provider of sound and music for events in the African community.

Kelvin is part of the Kenyans in Perth community, a member of the Party Nation 254 and was part of the Africa Oil Gas Energy conference.

He is currently working on a play to provide youth programs to support and help youth deal with challenges and solve problems with the aim of inspiring and empowering them.
