This category strives to identify and recognize an individual who has been well-regarded by the executive management of the Organisation of African Communities of WA for promoting interests of the African Community. The Community Pillar Award is awarded to any individual decided by the executive management. The recipient of this award is recognized as the best and the respectable individuals that the African community has to offer. Community Pillar Award is not one of the five competitive awards. No nomination is available for this ward.
Peter Oyewopo
Peter, a Nigerian general practitioner who has remained a very active member of the Nigerian community and ones served as the Chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Western Australia (NAWA). He has devoted valuable time and resources towards community activities, projects, and mentorship programs. He has also been a passionate member of the NAWA health subcommittee since the mid-2000s and has contributed immensely to health promotion and awareness, networking, and empowerment in the Nigerian community. He has
through his practice, mentored Nigerians through medical school, two of whom are now fully qualified doctors.
His commitment to the community has earned him several awards including NAWA commitment award in 2015, NAWA Chairperson award 2020. He is the co-founder and chairman of the Genesis Forum (Nigerian Doctors in WA), with a mission to foster unity, cooperation, provide mentorship and engage in charity projects. He is also a member of the President Advisory Group of the Yoruba Society of Western Australia (YSWA) 2020.
Peter is an entrepreneur and owner of a six-doctor general practice in the Perth Hills which he has managed with his wife, Busi since 2004.
Perter is so passionate about community activities that he just recently co-anchored a hugely successful fundraiser for the Yoruba language school.

Shiko Kariuki
Shiko is a young lady that is using her skill and talent in the modelling and nursing to positively impact the younger generation, especially the age 12-16 years. She has won several pageants including the Miss Africa Perth, African youth ambassador and Ms Galaxy Australia. These provided her important platforms and experiences that she is using to bless these young ones through facilitating quarterly confidence workshops. These workshops
grooms and nurtures these young women of colour to identify and find themselves. These have won her an award from the Kenyan community as the outstanding person in community contribution.
Shiko is passionate about young women of colour and her devotion is towards seeing them thrive and flourish in this country. She is part of the African talk show in Perth, the Nzuri talk show on Nzuri TV, all to keep her advocacy for the young women going.

Lucky Ngoshi
Lucky Ngoshi is an astute businesswoman with a clear and ambitious but realistic and attainable vision. Lucy displays leadership and excellence in her diversified field of expertise and has continuously used it to better her community. She has been a keen contributor to the African community, especially to the Zimbabwean community which has won her several awards including the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards.
Lucky is noted for her outstanding contributions towards advancing African business and social communities through her philanthropic attributes. She is the Co-Founder of LOZA, which is now the first point of call for the community and CEO of the Lucky Way enterprise, an Australian based company that serves the needs of Zimbabweans in the diaspora.
Lucky is an ardent advocate for the community and uses her skills in business to coordinate fundraising for the community. Such funds have supported the community immensely during this COVID season. She is also a key pillar in girls and gender equality by positively influencing the younger generation to aspire for something good and higher.
Lucky is a compassionate person who uses her skills to provide an open platform for most African social networks to survive.

Ibrahim Kebe
Ibrahim is a passionate advocate for the youth in the community. His desire and selfless commitment to the community mainly revolves around empowering the youth and providing them with a positive image. As the founding youth leader of OACWA, he played an instrumental role in establishing the ‘’The Stop the Violence’’ and ‘’Mentor me Reconnect’’ programs which are two important OACWA youth programs for promoting community awareness about violence and re-engaging disconnected youths.
Ibrahim’s commitment to community activities earned him the 2016 OACWA
Champions Award. His devotion to preventing violence within the community also earned him the White Ribbon Ambassador, a role given to men who actively work to prevent violence against women.
His passion in reducing violence within the communities is currently engaging him more with the police department on a project that aims at creating a good relationship between the WA Police force and the African communities as well as getting more African’s into the police force.
Ibrahim currently serves as the chairman of the Perth African Nation Cup tournament in WA, a competition that attracts over 20 thousand youth for positive engagement.
