This category recognises a young African Australian aged 18 to 25 years who has demonstrated leadership in the community. The person may demonstrate leadership qualities such as mentorship through involvement in entertainment, sports, coaching or other pursuits and contributions and is regarded by others as a setting a good example.

Rumbidzai Mudzengi

Rumbidzai is the youth chair of the Zimbabwean Association in WA. She has used her role to positively impact the youth in her community is several fields.She is noted in for her role in mentoring programs that aims at motivating young people of African descent, building their confidence level and the need to be more visible in the community. Rumbidzai is also involved in Mental health awareness, NDIS services and drug and alcohol awareness in the community.

Rumbidzai has worked with several organisations that have equipped her to provide important services for the youth in her community. These organisations include; Multicultural Futures as a community engagement ambassador, Roots TV as a voluntary project assistant aimed at highlighting African professionals and talents. She has worked with Swan Council/Sisters Project as a business advisor for women in business, MMRC on a business
training workshops to the CALD communities, UWA with the GUILD department for workshops on women advocacy and sexual education, sexual abuse awareness.

Rumbidzai is passionate and continues to organise workshops and networking events driven towards economic empowerment for the CALD community and raising Mental Health issues.

Qatan is the founder and CEO of IFTIIMO in Perth which offers organic skin and hair care products, that protect, nourish, and replenish from within and enhance growth. She is not only business focus but committed to educating and empowering women and men to embrace their beautiful melanin and natural kinky hair. This has seen her in several platforms including the
business queen.org to engage and inspire more African women to pursue entrepreneurship while promoting unity and the tools and skills required to be your boss while running a profitable business.

Her desire for excellence and leadership got her the recognition in 2020 as she was selected as part of the prestigious emerging leaders’ 12-month program at Telethon Kids Institute.

As a career woman even at her age, Qatan is noted for excellence and currently leads her
team as a Clinical Research Governance Facilitator. She also worked in collaboration with the Western Australian Health Translation Network (WAHTN) as an expert content collaborator and reviewer in developing Western Australia’s very first online good clinical practice (GCP) modules. Developing the online GCP course enabled WA’s clinical staff (i.e.
nurses, doctors, researchers, health students) to complete courses comfortably at home which not only increased compliance in WA but also saved WA thousands of dollars.
